Your first run
You've installed Kiki and booted it for the first time. Here's what happens next and how to run your very first task.
Setup
The first time Kiki starts on a fresh device, it walks you through a short setup:
- Connect to the internet — join Wi-Fi or confirm your wired connection.
- Create your account — this is your local user on the device.
- Meet Kiki — choose how much freedom the agent starts with. Assisted (it asks before doing anything that changes your stuff) is a great default.
On a screenless device (Server or Edge), setup runs as a web page — open the address shown on the console from another device.
Your first task
On the desktop, the prompt bar is where everything begins. It isn't a search box — it's where you tell Kiki what you want:
Summarize the PDFs in my downloads and give me a one-line overview of each.Kiki reads the goal, picks the tools it needs, and starts working. What it's doing shows up as a session you can watch live. Start another goal and it runs alongside the first — Kiki keeps working on background tasks too.
You can also just talk to it — voice works everywhere in Kiki. See Talking to Kiki.
Staying in control
A single switch (the HUD) decides how much Kiki does on its own:
- Assisted — it asks before changing anything. Best while you're getting comfortable.
- Agent — it drives; you watch.
- You — you drive; it only observes.
You can flip this at any moment. Details: Who's in control.
Connect to the cloud (optional)
Everything above works with no account and no internet dependency. Connecting a device to the cloud adds remote control, over-the-air updates, the app store, and syncing across your devices.
To connect a device, you approve it from your phone or laptop using a short code — like signing a TV into a streaming service:
- On the device, start enrollment. It shows a short code and a link.
- On your phone, open the link, sign in, and approve the code.
- The device appears in your dashboard and the mobile app.
